Church Covenant
Having been led, as we believe, by the Spirit of God, to receive the Lord Jesus Christ as our Saviour, and to give ourselves wholly to Him, and on profession of our faith, having been baptized in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, we do now joyfully covenant to each other, that by the aid of the Holy Spirit;
We will walk together in Christian love; strive for the advancement of the Church in knowledge, holiness and comfort; promote its prosperity and spirituality; sustain its worship, ordinances, discipline and doctrines; contribute cheerfully and regularly to the support of the ministry, the expenses of the Church, the relief of the poor and the spread of the Gospel among the nations.
We will observe the great duty of prayer, both for ourselves and others; endeavour to bring up those who may be under our care in the nurture and admonition of the Lord; walk circumspectly in the world; just in our dealings, faithful in our engagements, exemplary in our deportment and zealous to wins souls to Christ.
We will watch over one another in brotherly love; aid each other in sickness and distress; cultivate Christian sympathy in feeling and courtesy in speech; be slow to take offense and always ready for reconciliation, being mindful of the command of our Master to secure it without delay.
We moreover engage that when we remove from this place we will as soon as possible unite with some other Church where we can carry out the spirit of this covenant and the principles of God’s Word.
And may the God of Peace who brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great Shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant, make us perfect in every good work to do His will, working in us that is well-pleasing in His sight, through Jesus Christ; to whom be glory for ever and ever.
